Unionisation
of Business Process Industry is not a Progressive Step: Call centre Association
of India
The
call by the Centre of Indian Trade (CITU) for the unionization of Business Process
Industry workers is not a progressive step. Such kind of initiatives create a
bit skew ness in the entire industry which today is emerging as largest source
of employment and generates much needed foreign exchange for the nation.
According to the Call Centre Association of India (CCAI), the employees
of the Business Process Industry are essentially gray collar Knowledge Workers
and cannot be equated to the traditional blue-collar work force in the traditional
definition. The Industry is driven by top of the line human resource practices
including but not limiting to health, wellness, compensation and business practices
and puts the human resource at the its core. The work environment and compensation
that is provided by this industry is one of the best. The Human
resources committee of Call centre Association of India is working closely with
its members to address the changing demands of its workforce. CCAI,
