• Taxation –

                          o Issue:     The CBDT has sought to consider for taxation the global profits                                              of a foreign company, which is attributable to the ‘core’                                              activities performed by a captive Business Processing unit in                                              India. Outsourced services that are ancillary and auxiliary in                                              nature will not be taxed.

                         o Solution: Do away with the distinction and exempt all MNC income                                               derived from outsourcing from taxation.

• Interconnect Rules/Telecommunication Issues –

                         o Issue: Bottleneck put by VSNL on                                                     International Private Leased circuits (IPLC) in India. Restriction                                                  imposed by TRAI on National  Long Distance (NLD) provider.

                         o Solution:       Dialogue with Government.

• Customs Duties –

                          o Easy Rules for Custom Clearance on self-certification basis –                              There should  be Minimum Involvement of custom officials.

                          o Issues and Solutions need elaboration

• STPI –

                          o Call centres should register under STPI so as to get the benefit of                              duty free imports for  all the required hardware.
